Fisher's Island is a small rural island somewhere between Long Island and Connecticut and accessible only by boat/ferry. Getting there was an adventure in and of itself...
First, we took the tube to Penn Station. Then, we got on a train headed for New London, CT.
We thoughtfully packed a healthy, nutritious lunch for the long ride. Or maybe we quickly grabbed the greasiest food the concourse had to offer.
Unfortunately, we missed our stop (thanks a lot, Amtrak) and scrambled to get back to New London before the ferry left.
The reason why trains have electric outlets -- to get one's hair rehearsal-dinner ready in emergency situations
Thankfully, we got there safe and sound. We even had some time for an ice cream break.
A huge "single" scoop of maple pecan ice cream = yum!
Checking the 'Berry while eating ice cream = yuck!
From New London, we took the ferry bound for Fisher's Island.
The next morning, we work up refreshed and excited to explore the island. Fisher's Island is totally unique, sleepy, rural and beautiful...
The Glass House with its reflecting pool and ocean views, J picking out a new sailboat, a picturesque view
...But our real highlight was celebrating C+C's happy occasion.
What an awesome night!
A trip back East is never complete without bagels and lox, and that's how we ended our visit to Fisher's Island.
Until next time, FI!
